Tokyo based high voltage power cable maker, J-Power Systems Corporation, which is joint venture of Hitachi Cable and Sumitomo Electric Industries, tries to build another offshore plant after the firm announced new plant in India. The firm prepares for the new plant in Middle East in the year. The firm tries to expand the offshore operation to serve growing demand worldwide. The firm would launch new plant in Middle East when the firm expects the demand could keep firm in the area for another 3-5 years. The firm tries to take chance for the growth in the high valued products when the high voltage power cable suppliers are limited to some makers in Japan and Europe due to high level technology and quality. With offshore plant, the firm tries to supply the products with shorter lead time and higher cost competitiveness. The firm starts the Indian joint venture plant operation in January 2010 as planned. The venture starts building construction soon and will start procurement for the facilities.
