Flat Sheet Steel Price in Tokyo

Sheet steel market price is flat at around 105,000-106,000 yen per tonne for hot rolled flat steel at dealers’ sites around Tokyo. The price is 108,000-110,000 yen for pickling steel and 112,000-115,000 yen for cold rolled flat steel. The price is likely to keep the level despite of the pressure from supply side. The demand is very slow, especially for building market. Bankruptcy for general contractors and condominium developers impacts on the building market, even for steel suppliers. The dealers’ mind is also impacted by the negative factor. Some transaction price is decreasing for hot rolled flat steel and pickling steel. The dealers couldn’t pass higher cost price on the market after domestic integrated steel makers’ additional price hike in July. The dealers are suffered from higher price from domestic makers and offshore suppliers. Some dealers are reluctant to offer higher price while others try to pas the higher cost price on the market.
