H-beam market price is weak at around 126,000-128,000 yen per tonne for base size with 200 by 100 millimeters width at dealers’ sites around Tokyo. The market expects lower price when the ferrous scrap price decreased by more than 20,000 yen. Some buyers try to wait the lower offer when 122,000 yen of Tokyo Steel Manufacturing’s spot selling price impacts on the market. The dealers’ inventory is around 1.7-1.8 months of the shipment as July. The dealers’ arrivals from the makers is as much as July while the shipment, which is same daily level as July, is expected to decrease by more than 15% from July due to fewer operating days. The dealers try to keep the 130,000 yen per tonne level offer. They focus on the price keeping at the negotiation with the buyers when they expect marginal drop could accelerate the decreasing. The buyers increase the pressure to reduce the price level. With the slower demand, the price control is shifting to the buyers. The additional ferrous scrap price down could reduce the H-beam market.
