Plate steel market price is slightly increasing from around 120,000 yen per tonne for standard sized products with 19 millimeters thick, 5 feet width and 10 feet length and around 145,000 yen for cut processed materials at dealers’ sites around Tokyo. Dealers are raising the reselling price when plate makers increased the selling price one after the other. Nippon Steel raised the selling price by 10,000 yen per tonne for August orders and JFE Steel raised the selling price by 10,000 yen for September orders. The demand is expanding from shipbuilding, construction machinery, industrial machinery, energy industry or big building projects. Makers’ supply can’t catch up with expanding demand. The supply and demand becomes even tighter. On the other hand, the demand from dealers keeps low for small-middle size buildings. Dealers’ shipping is slow. But the dealers’ inventory is decreasing when makers’ supply is reducing to dealers.
