Ferrous scrap market price is firm at around 9,000 yen per tonne for H2, around 10,800 yen for H1 and around 12,500 yen for HS at the dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep firm when the export price from Tokyo bay is much higher than domestic market.
Local electric furnace steel makers pay 15,500-17,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade. The dealers ship the scrap more to coastal yard when the scrap export price increases. Local steel makers increased the scrap purchase price by 1,000-1,500 yen in the month to secure the material.
