Tokyo Steel Raises Ferrous Scrap Buy Price by 1,000 yen/t

Tokyo Steel Manufacturing increased the ferrous scrap purchase price by 1,000 yen at the all plants for arrivals on Saturday. The price increased to 19,500 yen per tonne for H2 grade at Okayama, Kyushu and Utsunomiya plants and to 19,000 yen at Takamatsu plant.

Ferrous scrap market price is firm at around 15,600 yen per tonne for pressed new cutting scrap and around 14,600 yen for new cutting scrap without press at the dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is expected to increase more when the export price from Tokyo bay is higher than local steel makers’ purchase price.

Local electric furnace steel makers pay 19,500-21,000 yen for new cutting scrap. The scrap export price from Tokyo bay increased to FAS 21,636 yen per tonne for H2 at the monthly tender held by Kanto Tetsugen on Thursday.
