Ferrous scrap market price is firm at around 7,400 yen per tonne for steel turning scrap, around 7,900 yen for A grade pig iron turning scrap and around 7,400 yen for B grade pig iron turning scrap at the dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep firm when local electric furnace steel makers try to secure the material at higher price.
Local electric furnace steel makers pay 11,500-14,000 yen per tonne for turning scrap. The price level is around 1,000 yen higher than last week level. The dealers also increase the scrap purchase price. The steel makers keep low level consumption but the low level scrap supply impacts on the procurement.
