Ferrous scrap market price is firm at around 7,900 yen per tonne for steel turning scrap, around 8,400 yen for A grade pig iron turning scrap and around 7,900 yen for B grade pig iron turning scrap at the dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep firm when the low level scrap supply is expected to continue.
Local electric furnace steel makers pay 12,000-14,500 yen per tonne for turning scrap. The dealers increased the scrap purchase price by 3,000 yen in the month when the steel makers increased the purchase price under the low level scrap generation due to very slow operations by manufacturers. Ferrous scrap market price is flat at around 12,500 yen per tonne for H2 grade around Osaka.
