Ferrous scrap market price is firm at around 13,000 yen per tonne for H2, around 14,800 yen for H1 and around 16,500 yen for HS grade at the dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep firm when the export FOB price from Tokyo bay is higher than local market price.
Local electric furnace steel makers pay 20,000-22,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade. A dealer said the steel makers’ procurement is impacted by the higher export shipment from Tokyo bay.
