Ferrous scrap market price is firm at around 19,100 yen per tonne for pressed new cutting scrap and around 18,100 yen for new cutting scrap without press at the dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep firm due to tight local supply.
Local electric furnace steel makers pay 22,500-24,000 yen per tonne for new cutting scrap. The dealers also turned into increase the purchase price when local steel makers try to secure the material at higher price. The scrap industry interests expect the local supply could keep tight due to low level supply. Ferrous scrap market price is also firm at around 14,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade around Osaka.
