Ferrous scrap market price is firm at around 15,000 yen per tonne for H2, around 16,800 yen for H1 and around 18,500 yen for HS grade at the dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep firm under tight supply.
Local electric furnace steel makers pay 21,000-23,000 yen per tonne for H2 scrap. The export from Tokyo bay keeps high level for East Asia. The export demand encourages the dealers to ship for coastal yard. A dealer source said the diversion could impact on the shipment for local steel makers.
