Weak H-Beam Price in Tokyo

H-beam market price is weak at around 70,000 yen per tonne around for 200 by 100 millimeters width Tokyo. Some dealers are selling at below 70,000 yen per tonne due to slow shipment. The price could decrease more for a while.

Dealers’ inventory seems to be flat at ended June from last month. Dealers’ shipment was flat in June from May due to increased business day. Dealers are continuing to reduce the order to H-beam makers due to low business inquiry. Their award volume was flat in June from May.

H-beam makers, Tokyo Steel Manufacturing or Nippon Steel reduced the selling price in June while decreases are restricting the order volume at minimum. Dealers forecast their shipment is low in July. They will maintain the inventory at the present level.

Ferrous scrap purchase price by electric furnace makers is rising around Tokyo, but the price doesn’t make an impact to H-beam market price. Dealers will keep the selling price at 70,000 yen per tonne when they can’t secure the profit. However, their selling price is decreasing to lower level.
