Weak Annealed Steel Wire Market Price in Tokyo

Annealed steel wire market price is weak at 143,000 yen per tonne for the size with 4 millimeters diameter around Tokyo. The market price is expected to keep low when cheap-price products from overseas and western Japan are flowing into Tokyo and the demand is unlikely to recover soon. Processing makers and dealers are taking precedence to keep the selling price. However, they may move into sales realization.

Dealers’ sales volume for June-July is even lower than in May. The sales volume was 30-40% lower in May from a year earlier. Many dealers said the demand doesn’t recover in August. Dealers’ shipment is expected to stay at the bottom level until autumn.

The makers and dealers are concerned about market share up of imported products and movement of sales realization.
