YKK AP announced on Friday the firm closes Shiga plant in Nagahama City, Shiga, Japan in January 2010 and Shizuoka plant in Yaizu City, Shizuoka, Japan by the end of March 2010. Both plants’ products and employees will be transferred to another plant in Yokkaichi, Mie, Japan.
These closures are a part of YKK AP’s restructuring measure for domestic architectural material business under severe market condition. YKK AP reorganizes domestic plants to optimize profitability and supply network for better services. Shiga plant produces building sashes with 74 permanent employees, which started operation in October 1975. Shizuoka plant also produces building sashes with 63 permanent employees, which started operation in February 1979.M | T | W | T | F | S | S |
