Ferrous scrap market price is firm at around 19,000 yen per tonne for H2, around 20,900 yen for H1 and around 22,500 yen for HS at the dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep firm due to tight supply.
Local electric furnace steel makers pay 25,500-27,500 yen per tonne for H2 grade. The local demand is very low due to major production cut by the makers. However, the scrap supply is tight due to very low generation. The dealers expect the supply could keep low level for a while. Ferrous scrap market price is firm at around 18,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade around Osaka.
