Lower Angle, Channel Price in Tokyo

Market price is weak at around 70,000-71,000 yen for equal angle with 6 millimeters thick and 50 mm width and 75,000-76,000 yen for channel with 5 mm thick, 50 by 100 mm width. Steel makers raised the selling price of angle and channel by 3,000 yen per tone, but dealers’ price hike is hard due to low demand. Some dealers’ selling price is below 70,000 yen per tone. The market price is expected to continue to drop step by step.

Dealers’ inventory is increasing slightly from ended of last month. Dealers’ shipping volume is same level from last month due to slow shipping. Dealers’ award volume seems increase when some dealers increased the order volume. Because each maker raised the selling price, dealers will reduce the order volume.

Purchase price of ferrous scrap by electric furnace makers rose at around 26,000 yen per tonne. The demand for angle and channel is shrinking. Dealers are taking precedence to get the order and reducing the selling price. Consequently, dealers are likely to keep the selling price against makers’ price hike.
