Ferrous scrap market price is firma at around 19,000 yen per tonne for H2, around 20,800 yen for H1 and around 22,500 yen per tonne for HS at the dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep firm due to higher export price from Tokyo bay.
Local electric furnace steel makers pay 25,500-27,500 yen per tonne for H2 grade scrap. The export FOB price from Tokyo bay increased by 500-1,000 yen to 27,500-28,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade late last week. The dealers expect the marginal higher export price than local steel makers’ purchase price could lift the local market price more. Ferrous scrap market price is flat at around 18,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade around Osaka.
