Ferrous scrap market price is 20,000 yen per tonne for H2, around 21,800 yen for H1 and around 23,500 yen per tonne for HS at the dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep firm due to tight supply.
Local electric furnace steel makers pay 26,500-28,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade scrap, which is 500-1,000 yen higher than previous week. The dealers followed the move to increase the purchase price. The supply is tight due to low level generation and the dealers expect the tight supply continues for a while. Ferrous scrap price is firm at around 18,000 yen per tonne for H2 around Osaka.
