Strong H-Beam Price in Tokyo

H-beam market price is strong at around 68,000-70,000 yen per tonne for 200 by 100 millimeters width around Tokyo. H-beam makers, such as Tokyo Steel Manufacturing, increased the selling price by 5,000 yen per tonne for September orders. Dealers are trying to pass high purchase price on the reselling price. Dealers’ shipment keeps low but the market price is expected to continue gradual upsurge.

Dealers’ inventory is likely to increase slightly at the end of August. Dealers’ shipment volume seemed to decrease in August from July with less business days in August than July. Dealers continue to reduce order volume when the demand recovery is unclear. Product arrivals at dealers would decrease aftertime.

Dealers aim the reselling price at 70,000 yen. Many dealers plan to raise the reselling price more in September. Especially, some dealers strongly raise the reselling price to other dealers.

Ferrous scrap market price turned down but keeps above 30,000 yen per tonne. On the other hand, some concerns are pessimistic about the demand in near future and afraid of failing to penetrate the price hike.
