Ferrous scrap market price is flat at around 15,500 yen per tonne for H2, around 17,300 yen for H1 and around 19,000 yen for HS at the dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep the level due to balanced supply.
Local electric furnace steel makers pay 22,000-23,000 yen per tonne for H2 scrap. Some makers reduced the purchase price since end of May but the averaged price keeps the level. A dealer source said the steel makers try to find the trend under low level supply while scrap export price is almost same level as their purchase price.
