JFE Mineral, JFE Steel’s subsidiary, announced on Monday the firm developed 3 technologies by steel powder against prolusion of volatile organic compound (VOC). The firm commoditized high performance powder to increase decomposition rate of VOC by over double. At the same time, the firm developed measures for compact size and cleanup of groundwater under operating plants. The firm aims to accept orders by high performance of construction and low cost.
New steel powder is MSI901T, which is formed by layers of catalytic metal with decomposition function for VOC on surface of steel powder. Existed powder has reductive decomposition. New powder has reductive decomposition and catalyzed decomposition to decompose VOC a high velocities. The firm graded up steel powder blend method and developed steel powder air bubble method. Steel powder blend method has bad traits that the method generates much mad and engages large size equipment. New method decomposes VOC by commingling bubble of surface acting agent including steel powder and soil in place of water. It was hard to decompose high concentration VOC under operating plants. The firm developed steel powder cartridge method that can decomposes high concentration VOC. Clarifying steel powder-Filled small cartridge set in water well for the size with 50 millimeters diameter. Groundwater is run through the cartridge by pump. VOC in groundwater is decomposed.
