Firm Sheet Steel Price in Tokyo

Sheet steel market price is firm at around 62,000-64,000 yen per tonne for hot rolled flat steel around Tokyo. The price could increase despite of the slow demand when domestic integrated steel makers reduce the supply to distributors market while Chinese and Asian market price turned into decrease.

The dealers and coil centers try to increase the reselling price to cover Tokyo Steel Manufacturing’ price hike and higher imported sheet steel price. The dealers’ transaction is apparently increasing between the dealers while the price cannot increase smoothly due to resistance of the users.

With limited supply from domestic makers, the distributors have thin inventory especially for electrogalvanzing steel, cold rolled flat steel and pickling steel. The dealers try to increase the reselling price under the tight supply and higher cost price. However, some industry interests concern the offshore price decrease could impact on the domestic market.

The price is 64,000-66,000 yen per tonne for pickling steel around Tokyo. The price is 75,000-78,000 yen for cold rolled flat steel, 88,000-90,000 yen for hot coil based electrogalvanizing steel and 97,000-99,000 yen for cold coil based electrogalvanizing steel.
