Ferrous scrap market price is flat at around 22,000 yen per tonne for H2, around 23,800 yen for H1 and around 25,500 yen for HS at the dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep the level under balanced supply.
Local electric furnace steel makers pay 28,500-30,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade scrap around Tokyo. The scrap transaction is slower than normal level due to holiday shutdown by yard dealers and automotive industry plants. A yard dealer source said the local supply keeps balanced despite of the production cut by local steel makers.
