Fuji Car Mfg Receives Scrap Processing Machine Order from Overseas

Shiga based environmental equipment maker, Fuji Car Mfg received an order for a large-size (1,600-tonne) ferrous scrap shearing machine from Hong Kong based rebar maker, Shiu Wing Steel (SWS). The machine has already been shipped to SWS to start operation in January-February 2010. The machine’s scrap throwing box is larger than other overseas machines, capable for bulky low-grade scrap. Scrap processing capacity is 30-35 tonne per hour.

This is Fuji Car Mfg’s first order receipt from an offshore customer for ferrous scrap processing equipment since the previous order by INI Steel (recent Hyundai Steel) of South Korea in 2005. Fuji Car Mfg explained there are many inquiries from Chinese players currently as well as existent customers in South Korea and Taiwan.

SWS is an only rebar maker in Hong Kong established in 1954. The production capacity is 700,000 tonnes per year. In Japan, ferrous scrap dealers have shearing machines, press machines or shredder plants and deliver processed scrap to steel makers. In East Asian countries such as South Korea, steel makers process ferrous scrap by themselves with their own facilities. SWS will also start self scrap processing.
