Japan Electric Material Production Declines by 26% in August

Japanese electric Materials production decreased by 26% to 27.4 billion yen in July from a year earlier, according to Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association. The production increased from January-March, the recent bottom. However, the metal materials output is around 50% of July 2008.

The permanent magnet production decreased by 39% in July from a year earlier, of which production of neodymium-iron-boron series and other rare earth magnet decreased by 41%. The demand in industrial machine remains low while hybrid car motor is firm. Ferrite magnet production declined by 30%.

The metal material production decreased by 45% in July from a year earlier. The production of electronic tube and lead frame decreased by 44% while production of other metals declined by 46%. The soft ferrite output declined by 47% while the dielectric ceramic material output decrease was only 13%.

Index number of dielectric material, totaled weight of titanium oxide, barium carbonate and barium titanate was 111 in July, which declined by 22% from a year earlier, compared with 100 as the monthly average in 2002. The index of electrode material, totaled weight of silver, palladium, silver-palladium-copper alloy and nickel was 269 as same as July 2008.
