Ferrous scrap market price is flat at around 15,000 yen per tonne for H2, around 16,800 yen for H1 and 18,500 yen for HS grade at the dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep the level under balanced supply.
Local electric furnace steel makers pay 21,000-23,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade scrap around Tokyo. Many of the local makers keep the purchase price since Friday. Some makers’ scrap arrivals from the dealers increased during price down period since mid-September. However, the dealers’ purchase volume is still low level due to low level generation from market and manufacturing plants.
