Weak Colored Galvalume Price in Tokyo

Colored galvalume steel market price is flat at 230,000 yen per tonne for smaller coil with 0.35 millimeters thickness and 914 mm width and 210,000 yen for large coil around Tokyo. The market sources see the price would not increase in the beginning of January. The makers and the dealers aim to keep the current price. However, the price could decline in December and January.

The shipment of makers and dealers slightly increased after October compared with April-September. However, the purchase of the users remains at the low level. The market sources see they cannot increase the selling price while they reduced the selling price too far after the spring when the demand remains low through 2009.

The sources see the demand would not increase in January-March 2010 when steel roof work stops in winter. The sources are concerned about the dealers’ liquidation at lower price to get cash while the demand decreases and the profitability of the dealers and the makers declines. The makers and the dealers aim to keep the current price. However, the price could decline under very slow demand.
