JFE Steel announced on Tuesday the firm restarted operation of no.6 blast furnace in East Japan Iron Works’ Chiba area on the same day. The firm suspended the furnace due to fire accident on December 28th, 2009. The firm started recovery works on December 30th.
JFE Steel explained no.6 blast furnace could avoid damages caused by the suspention because the furnace restarted operation early. The firm increases operating rate and output volume step by step. JFE Steel is offering delivery adjustment of steel products to some users. The firm aims to minimize the influence on users by purchasing of slabs from the group’s other iron works. East Japan Iron Works has 2 blast furnaces in Chiba area and Keihin area. The furnaces had continued full production thanks to increased domestic car production and export. Chiba area is focused to manufacture steel sheet for automobiles, tin plate or stainless steel.M | T | W | T | F | S | S |
