Ferrous scrap market price is firm at around 21,500 yen per tonne for H2, around 23,300 yen for H1 and around 25,000 yen for HS at the dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep firm due to firm export price from Tokyo bay.
The market price increased by 1,000-2,000 yen per tonne from previous week after local steel makers increased the purchase price to secure scrap. Local electric furnace steel makers pay 27,000-28,500 yen per tonne for H2 grade scrap, which is 1,500 yen higher than previous week.
