Strong Ferrous Scrap Price in Tokyo, Osaka

Ferrous scrap price is flat with strong tone around Tokyo. The market price is 21,500 yen per tonne for H2 grade, 23,300 yen for H1 grade and 25,000 yen for HS grade at the dealers’ purchase price including freight. Local electric arc furnace steel makers’ purchase price is 27,500-28,500 yen for H2 grade while some makers pay around 29,000 yen.

The local electric furnace steel makers’ purchase price was flat last week. However, the dealers’ ferrous scrap inventory remains low and the export shipping increases. The market price would increase when scrap supply is tight around Tokyo.

Ferrous scrap price is increasing around Osaka. The market price is around 20,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade at the dealers’ purchase price including freight while local electric furnace steels pay 27,500-29,000 yen for H2 grade and the higher price is around 30,000 yen.
