Mitsubishi Shindoh to Expand EcoBrass Sales in China

Mitsubishi Shindoh tries to expand offshore sales of the lead free copper alloy, EcoBrass. The firm tries to increase the sales in Chinese market where many alloy processors ship the products for USA when US government applies severer lead regulation for water tapping equipments through the country in July 2012.

Former Sambo Copper Alloy, which was merged into Mitsubishi Shindoh, developed EcoBrass or free cutting copper alloy without lead. The firm has license contracts with domestic 9 companies. Mitsubishi Shindoh makes monthly 300 tonnes of the product, of which more than half is exported. The market is near 1,000 tonnes in USA and more than 500 tonnes in Europe due to license production in the areas.

US government tightens the lead leaching regulation for water tapping equipments from current 15 parts per billion to 5 ppb in July 2012 after new regulation was started in California.
