Strong Indium Price in Tokyo

Indium market price is increasing around Tokyo. The price increased to 55,000-60,000 yen per kilogram in April from 50,000-55,000 yen in March, for low grade products, which is used for low-melting-spot alloy.

Global spot market price increased to around US$ 600 per kilogram in April and the higher price is 640 yen while the price was around US$ 550 in March. However, the price could stop increasing when the traders have the inventory, according to one Japanese rare metal trade firm.

Japanese sputtering target material makers, the major indium users increase the purchase volume. The makers kept the purchase at low level before the annual closing in March. However, the makers increase the purchase in April, according to the trade firm source.

Major consumers increase high grade products on a long-term basis and low grade ingot inventory for spot user decreases. The demand is firm for electronics. The price would increase more when the traders’ stock decreases.
