Japan Steel Scrap Composite Price was flat at 19,400 yen per tonne for H2 and 22,300 yen for new cutting grade in 4th week of January the from previous week. The dollar value was US$ 213.73 per tonne for H2 and US$ 253.39 for new cutting grade at 90.77 yen per US dollar of telegraphic transfer selling rate. Domestic steel makers kept the purchase price in the week.

Local scrap dealers’ purchase price is 21,500 yen per tonne for H2 around Tokyo. Local electric furnace steel makers pay 28,000-29,500 yen for H2 scrap. Firm export shipping supports the local supply balance while the local demand is very slow.

Scrap dealers’ purchase price is around 20,000 yen per tonne for H2 around Osaka. Local electric furnace steel makers pay 27,500-31,000 yen for H2 scrap. The price could increase when Godo Steel and Kishiwada Steel increased the purchase price late last week.
