Mitsui Mining & Smelting Plan 50% More Catalyst Business in F2010

Mitsui Mining & Smelting expands automobile catalyst business to 1.5 times in fiscal 2010 started April from fiscal 2009. The firm tries to follow growing demand in China and India when the countries introduce severer regulation for exhaust under growing automobile and motorcycle market. The firm develops new materials for catalyst while the firm now purchases precious metals.

The firm targets 10 times of exhaust gas purification catalyst in China in fiscal 2010 from fiscal 2009. The firm expands the Chinese production to 4 times from now while the firm established catalyst maker, Mitsui Kinzoku Catalyst Zhuhai in September 2006.

The firm doubles the sales in India where the firm has the maker, Mitsui Kinzoku Components India. The firm expands the business in emerging countries through the supply base in India, China, Thailand and Japan.

The firm also expands the development ability. The firm makes catalyst by coating stainless, aluminium alloy and ceramics carrier with precious metals. However, the firm now purchases the material carrier and precious metals. The firm decided to develop original precious metal materials for catalyst.
