Yamato Steel, Japanese major electric furnace steel maker, enhances size lineup of sheet pile to maximum 600-millimeter width from present 400-millimeter width. The firm will start commercial production of 600mm products in July-September at earliest. The firm plans to increase sheet pile export mainly to Asia where construction demand is strongly increasing.
Yamato Steel has produced H-beam, channel, I-beam, sheet pile, shape steel for shipbuilding and elevator guide rails mainly for domestic market. The firm’s export was limited to spot shipment of shape steel for shipbuilding to China and South Korea. Offshore demand is steady thanks to active infrastructure construction in China or Vietnam. On the other hand, domestic construction demand maintains the low level. The firm increases sheet pile and H-beam supply to East Asia and Southeast Asia utilizing Siam Yamato Steel in Thailand. Yamato Steel mainly exports sheet pile while Siam Yamato Steel supplies H-beam.M | T | W | T | F | S | S |
