Furukawa Electric to Open Copper Strip Coil Center in Thailand

Furukawa Electric plans to establish a coil center in Thailand to manufacture copper strips in cooperation with the affiliate company. The firm also eyes another coil center establishment in China. Furukawa Electric aims to strengthen offshore sales and improve business profitability by service enhancement against Japanese customers’ local sites.

Furukawa Electric has established no offshore coil center for copper strips. The firm’s official person said the firm has prepared for a coil center in Thailand which could start operation soon. Furukawa Electric can save investment through cooperation with the affiliate company.

The coil center will stock and slit material coil produced in Japan to supply copper strip to local customers. Furukawa Electric plans to improve profitability of copper strip business by raising sales rate of high value products including leadframes and connector pin materials while reinforcing offshore sales.
