Dowa Holdings announced on Thursday the firm’s subsidiary, Dowa Eco-System establishes a joint venture for soil remediation business in China with Suzhou Nation New & Hi Tech Zone Economic Development Group Corporation, a company run by Suzhou City of Jiangsu Province, China. The JV is controlled by Dowa Group with total 83.5% shares, 70% of which is held by Dowa Eco-System. The capital fund is US$ 4.5 million (approximately 400 million yen). The operation will start in December 2010.
In China, agricultural sites and old factory sites are rapidly developed. Along the development, soil contamination problems are increasing. Chinese government seems preparing for the soil contamination countermeasure law toward 2015.
