JX Nippon Mining & Metals announced on Thursday the firm launches the operation of the only ship, which can transport both of copper concentrate and sulfuric acid. The ship, named Mar Camino with sulfuric acid put off from the firm’s Saganoseki plant to Chile.
JX Nippon Mining & Metals has started Mar Camino instead of existing old ship, which transports both of copper concentrate sulfuric acid. Mar Camino’s boatload is 50,000 tonnes for copper concentrate, which is 12,000 tonnes higher than compared with the previous ship and 28,000 tonnes for sulfuric acid. Sulfuric acid, the byproduct from copper smelting, is used in solvent extraction electrowinning method. JX Nippon Mining & Metals improve the transport efficiency in the shipping of copper and of sulfuric acid between Chile and Japanese operating sites.| M | T | W | T | F | S | S |
