Japan Imported Flat Rolled Steel Stock Increases for 3 Straight Months

Japanese imported flat steel inventory at quay in Tokyo and Osaka increased by 1.3% to 148,000 tonnes in August from July, announced by Japanese major steel trading firm, Hanwa Co. on Tuesday. The inventory represented month-to-month increase for 3 months in a row due to the demand slowdown. The stock increased by 12.1% from a year earlier.

The inventory in Osaka decreased by 1.2% to 82,000 tonnes in August from July. The plate stock was 4,000 tonnes as from July. The hot rolled coil stock decreased by 5.2% to 36,000 tonnes from July while the cold rolled coil stock increased by 2.4% to 42,000 tonnes.

The flat steel stock in Tokyo increased by 4.7% to 66,000 tonnes in August from July. The stock decreased by 11.1% to 8,000 tonnes for plate while the stock increased by 5.1% to 41,000 tonnes for hot rolled coil and by 13.3% to 17,000 tonnes for cod rolled coil.
