Japan Special Steel Demand to Decrease by 1.3% for Oct-Dec

Japanese demand for special steel products is forecasted to decrease by 1.3% to 4.97 million tonnes for October-December from July-September, which decreases for 2 quarters in a row, according to Ministry of Economic, Trade and Industry. Construction machine output is expected to maintain high level while automobile production is likely to decrease mainly for domestic sales.

Structural alloy steel demand is forecasted to increase by 1.0%. Bearing steel demand is would increase by 1.5%. Meanwhile, carbon steel for machine would decrease by 0.3%.

As for export, stainless sheet is expected to increase by 5.0% while structural alloy steel and spring increase slightly. High-tensile steel sheet is forecasted to decrease by 2.6%.
