Japan Secondary Al Output, Shipment Jumps in Jan-Jun

Japanese secondary aluminium and alloy ingot output increased by 49.7% to 415,037 tonnes in January-June compared with the same period of 2009 and the shipment increased by 46.3% to 417,169 tonnes, according to Japan Aluminium Alloy Refiners Association. The output and shipment in January-June 2010 showed largest year-on-year increase. However, the output was 74% and the shipment was 74.1% compared with same period of 2008.

The monthly averaged output increased by 6.8% to 69,173 tonnes the shipment increased by 6.3% to 69,528 tonnes in January-June compared with July-December of 2009 and.

The half year shipment showed year-on-year increase for all fields. The shipment increased by 5.8% to die-casting, by 8.8% to casting and by 16.7% to extrusion.

The output could decrease in July-December compared with January-June when the subsidy for eco-friendly car ended in September.
