Japanese ferrous scrap exporters are in hard price negotiations with importers of East Asia. Current contract price is around FOB 31,000 yen per tonne for H2 and around 34,000 yen for new cutting scrap to Hyundai Steel, South Korean largest electric furnace steel maker, according to Japanese large dealer source.
Japanese dealers recently contracted H2 at FAS 31,000-31,500 yen from Tokyo Bay when domestic ferrous scrap market price rose. Japanese dealer source said domestic dealers’ offer price is around FOB 32,000-33,000 yen per tonne while the actual contract price tend to be low since the price is affected by American ferrous scrap export market. South Korean steel makers are also obtaining ferrous scrap from USA and Russia at around US$ 400 per tonne. A large dealer source said Japanese ferrous scrap may become rather expensive compared with American and Russian ferrous scrap due to higher yen rate.M | T | W | T | F | S | S |
