Japan, 2 Metalworking Machine Makers Joint General Press Machine Business

Amada, Japanese major manufacturer of metalworking machines, announced on Tuesday the firm concludes a business partnership with Aida Engineering for general press machines and establish a joint company for designing, sales and services of general press machines with pressing capacity at less than 3,000 kN. The new company will be established in April 2011, 60% shared by Amada and 40% by Aida.

Amada and Aida are the top 1&2 makers of general press machine in Japanese market. The domestic market is concerned to shrink since domestic manufactures recently accelerate operation shift to overseas due to higher yen rate. Moreover, Taiwanese and Chinese press machine makers are aggressively expanding their businesses. In response to the situations, Amada and Aida concentrate management resources into their strong fields and improve their management efficiency.

By establishment of the joint company, Amada will cease production of general press machine with 3,000 kN capacity and make the joint company a consolidated subsidiary. Aida will consolidate the productive operations and reduce productive costs by volume efficiency. Aida will focus in the sales of other machines such as high speed automatic press or middle-large size machine for tandem line and transfer press.
