Flat Secondary Al Scrap Market Price in Osaka

Aluminium scrap market price is flat at around 162-167 yen per kilogram for new cutting scrap, 127-132 yen for machine casting scrap and 120-125 yen for pressed can scrap at secondary aluminium alloy makers’ purchase price for 4 tonnes lot transaction including freight around Osaka.

Primary aluminium ingot price increased by US$ 10.50 to US$ 2,306.50 per tonne at settlement of London Metal Exchange on Friday from Thursday. Japanese users’ breakeven point with imported ingot increased by 1 yen to 220 yen per kg due to yen appreciation.

Aluminium scrap contract price is almost flat for second half of December after the recent negotiation between secondary aluminium alloy makers and scrap dealers. Despite the price increase in primary aluminium ingot price at LME, secondary aluminium alloy makers set the purchasing price unchanged when the makers hold the imported ingot inventory. The scrap supply is firm for aluminium alloy scrap and turning scrap when the generation from industries increases seasonally, dealer sources said.
