Hyundai Steel to Make 3.2Mt Hot Coil at New Dangjin Mill in 2011

Hyundai Steel plans to produce 3.2 million tonnes of hot rolled coil at C hot rolling mill in Dangjin works, South Korea compare with 3.5 million tonnes of annual output capacity. The firm tries to develop required automotive flat steel to serve Hyundai Motor starting commercial production of automotive outer panel in second half of 2011. The firm supplies the hot coil mainly for domestic market while the firm develops Japanese and other export market.

Hyundai Steel plans to make 7.2 million tonnes of hot coil including 1 million tonnes from electric furnace based operation in 2011. The firm increase automotive flat steel supply including indirect supply through Hyundai Hysco to Hyundai Motor.

Hyundai Steel also develops new sheet steel grades including mother material for steel tubular products. The firm already produces hot rolled sheet with X70 grade of American Petroleum Institute. The firm tries to secure stable customers other than Hyundai Motor group at home and abroad.

Hyundai Steel improves the technical service manpower in Japan to develop quality and service sensitive users. The firm tries to secure long term stable offshore buyers including pipe and construction material makers and dealers.

Hyundai Steel plans to make 1.5 million tonnes of plate or full capacity operation in 2011. The firm also tries to secure stable Japanese and other offshore buyers while the main target is domestic users.
