Rebar Makers Reduce Output by 40% around Osaka

Reinforcing concrete steel bar makers continue output reductions around Osaka. Rebar makers are trying hard to raise the selling price to improve profitability due to raw material cost upsurge. They adjust the supply volume by 35-40% for price hike.

Among base size rebar makers, Nakayama Kogyo reduced monthly output to 20,000-25,000 tonnes level in December, lower by near 40% than the ordinary level. The firm continues output cut by near 30% for January-March. Mizushima works of Daiwa Steel deceased monthly output to below 30,000 tonnes in December 2010, 60% of pre-shock level. Mizushima works continues production cut by near 40% for January-March.

Among thin size rebar makers, Hirakata works of Kyoei Steel decreased output by near 40% in December 2010 and January 2011. The firm keeps the same level output cut in February. Kishiwada Steel almost halved monthly output due to scheduled repair in December. The firm slightly increased output in January but the output cut range was about 40%. Kishiwada Steel plans to keep production cut by 35-40% in February.
