Hanwa Completes Indonesian Coil Center Expansion

Japanese major steel trading firm, Hanwa Co. completed expansion of its coil center subsidiary, Hanwa Steel Service Indonesia on Tuesday. The subsidiary’s inventory capacity increased to 3.5 times at 21,000 tonnes with new stock yard. The steel processing capacity increased by 500 tonnes to 7,500 tonnes per month with new mini slitter, mini leveler and shearing machine. The firm tries to follow steel sheet demand in Indonesia under growing economy.

Steel sheet demand is increasing in Indonesia when Japanese manufacturers build many transplants of appliances, motorcycle and automobile. Hanwa established its Indonesian subsidiary in August 2008. The firm built steel processing plant in Bekasi of West Java as the first phase investment and started the operation in October 2009.

The processing volume of Indonesian subsidiary is increasing since the start of the operation and inventory capacity was short against the dealing volume. Hanwa started new warehouse construction and facilities introduction as the second phase investment in July 2010.

Hanwa expended around 400 million yen for the expansion at the Indonesian subsidiary. The subsidiary introduced one 25 tonnes crane and two 20 tonnes cranes at the new stock yard with 4,608 square meters of floor space. The subsidiary has each 4 cranes at the stock yard and plant.
