CSC to Raise Steel Export Price to Japan for May-July

China Steel Corporation (CSC), Taiwanese largest steel maker, announced export price hike against Japanese customers by 15-20% for all steel items shipped during May-July 2011, including hot, pickled, cold rolled and zinc coated steel coils, according to Japanese dealer source. CSC seems to implement export price hike for profitability improvement when raw material prices continue to rise.

CSC previously raised the export price to Japan by 4,000 yen per tonne for hot rolled steel coil and pickled steel coil for February-April shipment while by 5,000 yen for cold rolled coil and steel plate, by 3,000 yen for hot-dip galvanized steel coil.

It seems that CSC couldn’t improve profitability enough by the previous price hike for February-April.
