Metal Art, Japanese major forging steel maker, is steadily expanding the ship parts business. The orders have increased for Metal Art’s ship parts since Metal Forge, the subsidiary acquired domestic and overseas classification approvals in 2010 and 2011. Metal Art tries to bring up the ship parts business to the third core business following automotive components and construction machine components.
About 90% of Metal Arts’ sales are consisted of auto parts and construction machine components businesses. Metal Art has accelerated the new business growth since domestic demand for auto parts and construction machine parts is unexpected to increase largely in a long term. Metal Forge acquired classification approval of Nippon Kaiji Kyokai in June 2010 and accepted orders for forging parts adopted to marine engine. Metal Forge also succeeded in acquisition of other classification approvals from 9 countries’ classification societies in South Korea, China, Germany, the U.S.A., France, Norway, Taiwan and Loyd’s Register of Shipping.
