Low Metal Price Hit Japan Major Smelters in Apr-Jun of F2014

Japanese major 8 nonferrous metals smelters posted mixed consolidated results for Apr-June of fiscal 2014 ending March 2015. Five smelters posted lower recurring profit due to lower metal prices including copper, gold and silver, and sales volume kept the firmer tone. But zinc, lead and nickel receive benefit from rising market price. In electronic materials and copper and copper-base alloy products filed, profits grew due to active products for automobile and for multifunctional mobile terminal.
